Branching Out provides tree management services for construction projects of all sizes. We offer arborist reports for building permits, replacement tree plans, arborist supervision of construction, follow-up documentation, and replacement tree inspections.

Tree Management Plan for Development Permits

From concept planning to final inspections, Branching Out is experienced in helping clients meet municipal tree requirements for development.

We are eager to work on projects where tree retention is a priority and offer a discounted rate to clients who engage us early on so we can identify the best trees on site and focus retention efforts there.

Tree Risk Assessment

If you’ve got a tree that you’re concerned about, or you want to apply for a tree cutting permit, our staff will complete an assessment of the tree(s) in question and provide a detailed report with our findings.

Our assessments are made following the International Society of Arboriculture’s Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) methods, as well as any additional requirements your municipality may have.

Impact Assessment

If your municipality has a Tree Bylaw and a tree on your property has been damaged by human means, you may be required to hire an arborist to complete an impact assessment.

At Branching Out, we have extensive experience with Tree Bylaw infractions and can help you navigate your City’s requirements. See our FAQ page for more information on impact assessments.

Other Services

Arborist Supervision

Branching Out offers arborist supervision of demolition, excavation, tree work, grading, landscape, service installation and any work near protected trees.

This can be included as part of your reporting package, or done without the initial report.

All supervision work includes a follow-up letter.

Pruning

At Branching Out, there is nothing we like more than the satisfaction of pruning trees that really need it. We are happy to complete pruning of small trees and shrubs, however we are unable to dispose of the subsequent green waste.

All work is completed with hand tools, and only what can be reached from a small ladder

Consulting: Backyard Ecology

Regardless of the size of your property, you can take steps to increase its part in the wider urban ecosystem. If you want to improve soil health, remove your lawn, improve your climate resilience, attract native pollinators and more, let’s develop a plan that will be tailored to you and your property.

We are also happy to take on the labour on small projects, and would love to have you join in playing in the dirt if you want to work alongside us.

Local FireSmart Representative

Are you concerned about how wildfires might affect your property and/or neighbourhood? Wildfires may seem like unstoppable forces, but there are actually many steps that can be taken to increase your resiliency to them. A Local FireSmart Representative (LFR) can work with you or your entire neighbourhood to come up with a plan to address the biggest hazards. Visit FireSmart BC to learn more.

*Note: Branching Out is not qualified to complete reports for Wildfire DPAs
