About Branching Out

Krisanna Mazur founded Branching Out after working in consulting and municipal arboriculture for seven years. She founded the company because she wanted to find ways to decolonize the fields of arboriculture and landscaping. She has big dreams for what the company might branch out to, but for now she is focused on finding a balance between work and chronic pain recovery.

In her pre-teen years, Krisanna got her start working with plants by mowing her neighbour’s lawn and weeding his garden. A few years later, a part-time job in high school at a nursery led to her pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture with a major in Urban Ecosystems from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She worked for many years in landscape design, installation and maintenance, which grounds her knowledge in hands-on experience.

Krisanna is also passionate about issues such as protecting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, neurodivergence, and Indigenous rights. In her spare time, she loves to read, cook, embroider, and lift weights.
